How this all started
BIG DREAMS FOR A LITTLE SPACE
Recently we were offered the opportunity to rent a small, unused space, conveniently located next to our dining room. For those of you who know us already, you’ll be aware that we have a large professionally equipped kitchen where we run our outreach cooking classes with the community. To generate funds to run these classes free of charge, we use the same kitchen to cater weddings, events and work dos, special occasions, and also hire the kitchen space out.
As we’ve grown, we’re now doing more delivery than ever before, which is great! But it does mean the kitchen is constantly in use, making it harder and harder for us to respond to all the catering requests we get. Catering has always been one of the main ways to fund our work, so with this new space - we are hoping to build a second, smaller kitchen dedicated to catering. But we need your help!
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
The new kitchen space, covering around 250 square feet, presents a unique opportunity for us to grow our catering operations, create employment opportunities, and enhance our impact on the community. But sadly we don’t have any reserves to fund the building of this kitchen. So we’re reaching out to our amazing Coexist Community and beyond to ask for help to make this happen.
To fully equip the kitchen in a way that is compliant with health and safety standards, we need to invest in cladding for the walls, non-slip flooring, ovens, sinks, storage, appliances…the list goes on. We have estimated the overall build will cost £20,000 and are now reaching out far and wide to ask for monetary donations, vouchers, gifted items etc.
