At the Community Kitchen, our belief is that everyone should be able to have spaces in which they can share food together, learn and teach skills and create strong connections with others.

Our main work focuses our range weekly cookery classes specifically for people who experience social marginalisation in our community. We also run events, provide catering services and hire out our space in order to support us in our social outreach work.

OUTREACH COOKERY CLASSES

We work closely with Bristol-based social enterprises, organisations, and charities to support individuals facing challenges, including those connected to drug and alcohol services, mental health support, youth organisations, and refugee and asylum services. We offer:

Free Cookery Classes – We run daily cooking classes that support vulnerable young people and adults accessing support services.

Community Meals – We prepare up to 200 meals each week for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity and host a monthly free meal for all.

Tailored Programmes – We develop unique initiatives to meet specific needs, like Speak & Eat, which combines cooking lessons with language learning for those new to the UK.

COMMUNITY MEALS

Tackling Food Insecurity

In addition to our workshops, we run a weekly free Community Meals service. With the help of dedicated volunteers, we utilise food bank donations to prepare around 200 nutritious meals for individuals and families facing food insecurity.

SPEAK & EAT

Learn, Share Connect

Speak & Eat is a free, regular six-week cookery and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) class that is open to refugees and asylum seekers who are looking to improve their English, whilst preparing and sharing delicious foods from around the world.
