Who we support

BUILDING A WORLD WHERE EVERYONE IS NOURISHED

At Coexist Community Kitchen, our mission is simple: to build inclusive spaces and activities where everyone is nourished.

When we talk about nourishment, we mean more than food. We mean people being cared for, and having the skills, confidence and support to care for themselves and others. We mean creating opportunities for connection, dignity and belonging through shared meals, shared learning and shared experiences.

We call this being Powered by Care — placing care at the centre of how we work, how we lead and how we build community.

WHO OUR PROGRAMMES ARE FOR

Our programmes are designed for people who may benefit from additional opportunities to build confidence, connection, skills and wellbeing through food.

We work with people from many different backgrounds and life experiences across Bristol, including those experiencing:

  • Poverty, disadvantage and financial hardship

  • Social isolation and loneliness

  • Mental health challenges

  • Addiction and recovery

  • Displacement and migration

  • Barriers to employment and training

  • Other forms of structural disadvantage and discrimination

For many people, these challenges are not experienced in isolation. They often overlap and interact, creating additional barriers to wellbeing, stability and opportunity.

Our role is not to define people by these experiences, but to create welcoming spaces where everyone can participate, contribute and belong.

We work alongside more than 85 partner organisations across Bristol, building on relationships developed over the past 14 years.

These partnerships include grassroots community groups, housing providers, health services, education and youth organisations, specialist support services, and organisations working across the local food system.

By working together, we can reach people who may benefit most from our programmes and help connect them with wider sources of support. We are proud to be part of a broader ecosystem of care across the city, where people can access different forms of support at different points in their lives.

We always welcome new connections. Join our partner mailing list below, or email food@coexistuk.org to start a conversation.
